We offer more than just a hearing test. Our 90-minute Comprehensive Hearing Assessment allows time to expertly explore the patient’s needs, hearing levels and speech perception levels.
Here is what a Comprehensive Hearing Assessment with our experienced, qualified Audiologists looks like:
Medical History
An in-depth medical history of the ear and hearing health related matters, including all referable conditions. This includes everything from previous surgeries, changing in hearing levels, tinnitus through to general health and medication. A detailed medical history helps build the picture of overall ear and hearing health.
Client Orientated Scale of Improvement (COSI)
This powerful and personalised tool helps us to assess challenges the patient is facing in their everyday lives. Patients identify specific listening environments they struggle in and rank them in order of importance to solve. Our Audiologists use this information throughout the appointment and fitting process. A COSI helps us advise on the most appropriate hearing technology and assess the improvement hearing technology has in the real world. The Audiologist will continually refer back and update the COSI throughout the Real-World Hearing Technology Trial and Comprehensive Aftercare.

Otoscopy/Video Otoscopy
Having a look in and around the ear is vital to understand the health of the outer ear, the ear drum and assess if there any need for Wax Removal. Using our specialised Video Otoscope, we take pictures and videos stored on the patient file. This is great for reference, patient engagement and when referrals are required.
Audiometry
Audiometry is the traditional hearing test. The patient will wear headphones and press a button whenever they hear a sound. An Audiogram helps us gauge a patient’s hearing threshold, and therefore any hearing loss. It gives us the basis for an amplification prescription we will when fitting Hearing Technology.

Speech Testing
The most common challenge a patient with hearing loss reports is understanding speech in noise. In fact, understanding speech in noise is the most important benefit patients are looking for from hearing technology. Speech testing evaluates how well a patient can recognise and understand spoken words in varying levels of background noise.
Solution Recommendation
After a comprehensive battery of testing is completed, the Audiologist will interpret the results from the Hearing and Speech tests and relate it back to their COSI. As we are gathering so much information in this appointment, we can make personalised and evidence-based solution recommendations for the patient. This leads us into the Real-World Hearing Technology Trial.
